tarat spits up on me

it's normal for babies to spit up.

i have read that babies spit up when they become overfilled or just merely because their digestive system is still getting up to speed.

tarat however just wants to spit up on her favorite aunt. ;-)

this saturday...

i became a model for a friend who has a new nikon d80. we had difficulty getting a good shot. hehehe. in short, i was bad at it.

i hung out with my friends who just came back from vacation. that was just for a short time though. next episode will be later...at tabuelan.

i had lunch at another friend's house, sort of joined their dance practice and slept drooling on their pillow. ewww...

i watched a japanese manga series turned movie, death note. it was one of a kind. my sibs and i were hooked to it.

i had a two-hour quartet practice without jed. he's been missing for days already. tsk tsk tsk. i went even if i was so sleepy. hoecst practiced even if he was drunk. we are just so dedicated to this. hello korea!

...even if i never got to sleep for at least an hour, i still was able to make this entry.
good night!

notorious china?

china is in the limelight again. it seems to me that everytime i hear about china in the international news, it's some bad story. even the olympics was tainted with controversies.

there was that lip synching of a 9 year old girl who replaced the original singer apparently because she wasn't cute enough, the fake fireworks display on tv and the chinese gymnastics team that won the gold medal apparently weren't 16-year-olds.

now...the milk scare. this errupted after thousands of children were reported to have fallen sick after taking in the contaminated formula. it's the melamine ingredient that causes this, which is not a food ingredient in the first place. as a result, chinese dairy products are being pulled out or banned including here in the philippines. one of those products include my favorite candy while growing up, white rabbit.

and then there is piracy. china is plagued with milli vinilli. from razor blades to dvds to what have yous. i learned that not only branded goods are faked in china, even eggs! omg!

i also remember the pull out of chinese-made toys last year over concerns of lead paint poisining. several other products according to the news have been recalled due to health and safety concerns.

it's basic that quality should not be compromised by price. if this is the chinese's idea of competing in the global market, then it's doing them more harm than good. china has got a lot of cleaning up to do. their products are getting a bad label all over the world, "say no to made in china".

cutting down on expenses

i used to be a wise spender.
and i used to keep a portion of my pay for my savings.
now, my bank account is stagnant.
it's been several months since i deposited.

cutting down on expenses is a step to achieve the goal to save.

and i was delighted to see my phone bill today.
after two months of paying at least PHP 3000 each month, i finally managed to drop it back to PHP 1000.

i have to be well

This is the second time I am absent from work this week, my 16th Paid Time Off, year to date.
My manager told me through text that my schedule adherence is leaning towards horrendous.
I must admit, I am most of the time tardy, if not absent.

There are so many things waiting to be completed in the office. I note them down yesterday.

  • I have an agent who is resigning and she wants to take a terminal leave two weeks before effectivity date. I sent an email to HR-ER and asked for an advice. I am not familiar with the procedure. I'm sure the response is already in my inbox.
  • I also have an agent who is wishing to relocate to Manila by mid-October. I need to make a follow-up on the approval for transfer. My manager should have completed it by now.
  • I have an agent who like me has a schedule adherence issue. She was away 4 straight days last week, and never called-in on the last. She's supposed to be getting a warning. And she's absent again.
  • I have 3 agents who are yet to be informed of the updated script for our line of business. They should be back Thursday the latest.
  • Last week's and month to date stats are already out. My agents need to know where they currently stand in their performance. I have to prepare that.

I have to be well by tomorrow lest I will lose my job.

LL is out!

I am down with fever. My head is throbbing and I couldn't think straight. I wanted to write about work, but my brain just wouldn't cooperate. So I gave up.

Suddenly, a news came up from local TV that got me interested and pumped up. LL is out!

Well...ok? Technically I considered her out ever since she's been seen with Samantha Ronson everywhere and holding hands. It's just different when you declare it to the public. Put an end to speculations and give the hopefuls a peace of mind. I can now sleep. Haha!

(No, I don't have the hots for LL! I have the hots for somebody who fantasizes her. So, quit daydreaming! You know who you are.)

Here's more of the story.

all in one

i just woke up from a 4-hour sleep. it's 3:00 AM. i'm hungry and i desperately want to have an entry posted in my blogsite in a few hours. i couldn't decide on the topic. my brain is congested with the following:

got introduced to this by bong last friday. it's a group of undercover agents based in NYC that executes missions involving unusual situations. they're like a large gang of pranksters ready to cause scenes. they've pulled off 70 pranks to date and one of the best yet is the FROZEN GRAND CENTRAL.

  • write to someone

drafted a letter for someone before i went to bed earlier. i wanted to say something like, "i miss being with you. when will we ever be together? can you pick me up at dawn and let's have ginabot?"

or maybe, "i hope that you also think of me as much. i'm worried that maybe you feel obliged to respond to my messages or worst pity me and so you do. i don't know if i should settle and be happy with that or be hurt instead, without hearing from you. i want to read your mind."

  • badminton game

ginipir already recuperated from german measles. the last one we scheduled was cancelled due to that. so even if i was feeling kinda sickly, we still went ahead with it.

there were supposed to be 4 of us. only 3 showed up because diamond-studded friend decided to push back again with excuses, ginipir, me and her friend bansot, who is a pro.

i had a good 2-hour exercise. i almost fainted again.

    • quintet practice

got a message from erick, in the middle of the badminton game, that practice will be at 2PM. good thing practice was just a walk away from the court.

jed is in manila. back to the original four for the meantime.

song to practice? moon river. not familiar, but still learned it. another homework for me.

    • flurge/ flirg/ flerg and cankles

new words were blurted by Tina Faye and Amy Poehler in their SNL skit where they portrayed Sarah Palin and Hilary Clinton, respectively.

the definition for cankles, fatty and shapeless legs, came up easily through urbandictionary.com

however, flurge/flirg/flerg, whichever is the correct spelling, is getting quite a lot of attention because no one is sure what it means by how it was used in the skit. it could mean, a cross between flush and purge or state of a man's penis when it's not erect, as per urbandictionary.com. while others say it's an acronym which stands for first lady is really gay or first lady i'd rim job.

the meaning could be derived from its relation to other words used in the skit such as boner-shrinker or MILF. watch and decide for yourself. or ask the scriptwriter for the answer.

    compaq laptop

Due to the prodding of friends, Rye and Bong, I finally got myself a compaq.

I am not uber techie so I had no idea what to get.

So my basis really for choosing this beauty, is its sleek-slender look. I also like that it has a built-in-camera and bluetooth. With these two features, I can easily load pictures into my blogs (just like the pic on the left). I don't have to plug cables in and take pictures from my bulky camera. I can easily just snap a shot from my phone and transfer the file wirelessly.

Another great thing about this gadget is I can roam anywhere in the house and stay connected. I can update my blog anytime I want, anywhere! I don't have to line up for the PC and wait for my sibs to finish using it. I have my own to use - compaq laptop.

    Amen to Batang Yagit

I am making this post to place a vote for BATANG YAGIT to be the Blogger's Choice Award for the Philippine Blog Awards.

Why? Simply because Beejing begged me to do so. And yes, bugged me. Sent me text messages, emailed me, called me, blogged to me to blog about my vote for BATANG YAGIT.

So who's this BATANG YAGIT anyway? And why does he deserve my vote? (gara-a oh, murag si kinsa nga ultimate blogger)

Well...Beejing is convinced to vote for him for the following reasons and I guess I will just have say AMEN:

    • BatangYagit is his alter-ego; like Batman and Bruce Wayne. Oh well, we had a little chat yesterday and he shared me a little bit of his life. Hmph. You see, when he was a kid he was never allowed to out of the house - in short, he never had any Street Life. Poor kid. Lol.
    • BatangYagit maintains a lot of sites/blogs. Which I do not really know how the hell he manages his time between studies and his online life. Tsk tsk. BatangYagit almost made it to the 2008 Google Summer of Code. *sigh*
    • BatangYagit is a driving force. He helped Cebu-based bloggers convene for the first time.
    • BatangYagit is a certified Dabawenyo. He even got himself a little controversy when blogged about Cebu.
    There!

Now seriously, as a neophyte to blogging, I think that BATANG YAGIT has one of the finest and most fluid blogs I have visited so far, not to mention interesting at the same time.

I am finally done with this post, and once I submit this I will already have one raffle entry for a chance to win a Nokia N82.

If you want to do the same click here for the mechanics.

    Tata!

boredom should not be a state where i want to be in.

    i can't help it. or can i?
    i can.
    but i choose not to.
i am enjoying every minute of this.

    tarat deprived me of sleep

I still haven't slept. 3 more hours and I should already be in the office.

    The reason?

    TARAT!!! (that's my niece's nick). ====>

By the way, my dad named her after a noontime gameshow's jingle. My friend Rye, loves the name.

So why haven't I slept yet? The nanny is out.

Daddylo (my dad, tarat's granddad obviously) took care of her the whole morning. I was scheduled to babysit the rest of the day.

It's my first time on this job all by myself. It's difficult when you have no one to ask what to do. Even then, Tarat and I had a grand time.

    I hushed her to sleep.

    I changed her diapers.

    Prepared her milk.

No matter what I do, nothing seemed to work. Tarat cried.

    And cried and cried.

Until finally, I figured out what it is that she wanted to do! Pose for more pictures! This is it!

    from quartet to quintet

Passion for singing brought together Hoecst (a.ka. Beyonce), Erick, Janice M. and me to form a so-called quartet of lobby singers.

The master plan is to save up songs that we can sing for an audition at Marriott (according to a reliable source, the hotel is in need of lobby singers). Long term goal of the group is to move to Korea or Singapore and become regulars at The Hyatt Hotels (o diba? ambisyosa much?) And to top that, maybe sing at luxury cruises as well. (ambisyon kung ambisyon).

This is Hoecst's look in our soon-to-be-gigs.

After 4 weekends of practicing, the only song we've managed to complete so far is Seasons of Love from the musical The Rent. (What took long?)
Erick had to transcribe the notes first in a computer since Janice and I don't know how to interpret notes, dots and ties on the music sheet! This took one whole day of supposed practice time.

That's us listening to the piece. Look at how amazed I am with the PC that turned into a piano.

Then, we had to memorize each of our parts. Different strokes for different folks.

Janice concentrating on her notes outside the house where it's peaceful and quiet, looking like she's having a headache.

Hoecst feeling comfortable in the living room. Too comfortable he couldn't sit on the couch anymore.

We also had to wait for Jed (our new member) to catch up. He showed up for practice just last weekend and man, he is good! (and cute too, just too young).

Erick and Jed doing one on one coaching.

Erick and Jed still doing one on one coaching with me having a better view.

Finally, the now quintet, sang together in 4 different voices.

    Baby Laylah Deneyse Ann's Christening

Location: Alliance of Two Hearts Parish (Banawa, Cebu City) and Rojonan's residence (Capitol City)
    Date: September 13, 2008
    Start time: 1:00 PM
    End time: 12:00 AM

My niece's, Baby Laylah Deneyse Ann's, admittance to being a Christian.

the christening gown. Traditionally, gowns should be pure white. Laylah wore the one lined with blue instead. There is a white gown available, but she wants to be different.

the preparation. Everybody is busy with their tasks. Even our neighbors were there to help. Lovely!

the ceremony. The priest poured water and anointed Laylah while the ninongs (godfathers) and ninangs (godmothers) lit their candles.

the food and booze. Of course, no event is complete without FOOOOD and BOOOOZE!!!

    officemate: jack johnson
    me: there you go!

I remember I asked my friend Rye a couple of days ago.

me: who's that other artist who sounds like jason mraz?
    rye: hmmm...john mayer, ben harper?

I like Jack Johnson's songs. Light and easy to the ears.
    My favorite? Sexy Plexy!

officemate: i have 7 of his albums
me: i don't have one, but i heard several of his songs.
officemate: i'll lend you. or i can bluetooth the popular ones.

I guess I will just have to download his songs again.
