1st run with RuBu

RuBu (running buddies) was coined by henrey aquino last month. this term he used to name the group (employees of peoplesupport) he also founded that joins marathons for fun.
the marathon that happened just today, organized by the cebu archdiocesan major seminary foundation inc., was the first i attended and completed. this was the second run that RuBu joined.

the seminary fund run was attended by a thousand runners of all ages. majority of the kids ran the 3k, we went for the 5k and of course the seasoned ones ran 10k.
we finished 5k in approximately 45 minutes. it was exhilirating but fun at the same time. looking forward to the next run.

be a RuBu.

abp amazing race

based on the feedback we gathered, the amazing race was so much fun. there were 5 tribes with 4 members each that participated. they had to complete all physical, mental and stomach challenges within the 12 pit stops of the race. from lahug to sto. rosario, emptied of their monies, the challengers walked, ran and hitchhiked through the route. thanks to the e-force team led by louise for this successful event. check out the video.

there will be a second round before the year ends. this time with OPS as the participants. liki!

*warning: you may check out youtube for the high quality copy of this video.

tgi friday's

i think im bound to try all the new restaurants at the ayala terraces. tgi friday's was yesterday's stop after last week's gustavian treat. it wasn't really something i planned to do. my yovi friends were already dining there and so i just dragged my ops friends to join their table.

friday's food was more familiar in terms of taste and price. although if compared to regular quick service restaurants, theirs is a little higher on the price scale. and gawd, there burgers were humungous!!! seriously? maybe 10 inches in diameter and 5 inches thick. it can feed two people and stomach filling especially if paired with bottomless iced tea.

one interesting thing that we noticed was that their food servers would take orders squatting. i wonder what the explanation is aside from the fact that they'd like to catch attention, which is what they are known for doing, especially with those unique decors.

being the first branch in cebu, this is definitely something new to try if you're in for another american food craving.

art at work

this is what avail time can do. bring out the talents of the bored. see all these art pieces that were created during those long hours of wait. this is yet another one of ginipir's bright ideas.

"apples," the drawing to the left is Julie Dumagan's with the use of oil pastel.

another oil pastel creation is George Pahl's "stone fish" to the right.

this is Roselle Mercado's work still using oil pastel.

below are more of our agents' works using colored pencils and oil pastel.

gustavian treat

i first heard about gustavian, a restaurant on the road to maria luisa park, a month ago when our american clients were here. they had dinner with the level 5 people up, while we were left sharing on a porkchop meal.

that ignited the sudden craving for gustavian. pricey meals coupled with unusual entree names was intriguing. some of us even planned to save up for a gustavian experience. i was lucky i never had to. thanks to tamponriot!

as usual, my taste buds didn't approve of the foreign style of cooking. as tamponriot would put it, the taste was too bland. among the courses that were ordered, the tastiest of them all was the soup. i forgot the name, but it was spicy and had a tinge of sourness to it. aside from this the only other thing that was worth remembering was the three level presentation of the main course and the electronic pepper grinder!

for ordinary people, gustavian may not be an ideal stop for sumptuous everyday meals. but you could bring your foreign clients there coz they'd appreciate it more than your typical filipino entourage.

LL talks about DJ Sam

this is an article you might find interesting. click here. any article about her always has that effect on me, especially when it's about her relationship with DJ Sam.

it's good to know that LL has finally come to her senses. her realizing that she has to straighten her life and not get f***ed up anymore. her relationship with Sam has a positive influence on her and you're right C, i sure hope it'll last. if it doesn't, it'll still be good. we'll find more articles about her to read.

paano na kaya

have always said this. lyrics comes next to melody, when i listen to songs. and for several days now, there's this one song that keeps playing in my head. sometimes, i even catch myself singing it over and over. and see im writing about it now! composed by maestro ryan cayabyab, the song, i think is sung beautifully by bugoy. i have goosebumps everytime i here it play.

paano na kaya (what if)

tarat sticks her tongue out

warning: non-starbucks food not allowed inside

i thought i should write about this in case you didn't know. this is to help you save your face when you happen to hang out at starbucks ayala and decide to bring in food from outside.

my friend confidently said, "ok ra lagi, nakasuway nako sa una. dad-a nalang dinhi imo pagkaon!" (it's alright, trust me. ive tried bringing in food here before). so i took his word.

right there at starbucks i started munching on my pancake house meal. a couple of minutes later, i saw a guard approaching our table. he waited for me to look up at him before he said his piece. "miss, next time dili na pwede magdala ug pagkaon gikan sa gawas. next time nalang." (next time don't bring in food from outside). ok, was all i could utter while twenty some people stared.

diamond peel: my most painful experience

it was like lying on a torture table. i can't believe im submitting myself to this. it's excruciatingly painful. i want to describe how it feels exactly, so you'd know. but i can't put it into words. my tears involuntarily rolled down my cheeks the whole time. whenever she starts inflicting pain, i hold my breath hoping that i won't feel it. guess what? it's still there. agaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy!!!

if jocelyn (the pain inflicter) would put it, "no pain, no gain mam." wow! easy for her to say, coz she's not the one on the table. but i stayed there, so i probably want this bad. agaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy!!! there it goes again.

have your white heads pricked and you'll know what i'm trying to say.

bingo at work

because work has become too routinary and boring, the porkchop thursday friends lined up activities for everyone this month.

today, we had bingo socials (not sure about the s there, but we like how it sounds so who cares.) which by the way almost never happened because we didn't have enough bingo cards prepared for everyone. we needed at least 300 and what we had were just a hundred and some. so as a workaround, without the players knowing, we duplicated (even triplicated some) the cards. bingo! problem solved. but of course, we won't allow that to happen again on the second day. so as a permanent solution, ta-dah!

hoping for more sponsors tonight for the prizes.

two new sites opened

my jabberedonion.com site is perfectly working now. i have it hosted by weebly for free, which i think is better than 000webhost, because there aren't any pop-up ads embedded. also, the sitebuilder at weebly is so easy to use that all i have to do is drag and drop. something, i find very convenient and saves me time. (i remember kat hubner when i use those two power words, hehehe. who wants to piggyback on that?*wink*)

this blogspot account will continue to run in contrast to my initial decision to have it deleted. primarily because weebly won't allow me to import my files from here and second, i am already attached to this site. a lot has happened here that i'm not willing to let go. (char!) anyhoo, while my jabberedonion.com becomes the personal site, this will transition to become more commercial and general.

the second site that i built through weebly just last night, is the brainchild of me and my sisters, d3signworks.net. the site is an online store/servicing center. there aren't anything much in the site yet but the goal is to make it a stop for any interesting finds. most importantly, if that find is not in there, we'll try to find 'em. (i know it's very ambitious, but we'll see how it'll go)

there...two new sites for you. see yah!

november's here

today is day 1. i am now officially nicotine free. i have been for the past couple of days, but november is the month to start counting. i was successful in limiting the sticks i consume, from 20 to 10 to 5 down to my last couple during the last week of october. wow!

the challenge for me now is to resist temptations. there will always be times when i will be invited for a smoke break. there will be those moments when i'll feel like cheating. i won't, err... i'll try not to succumb. i declined one offer earlier today before i went home. (haha, you are not going to make me, AJ!)

check me back in a few days.
