cyma, opa!

when i was invited for lunch at cyma last sunday, i was a bit worried. i shouldn't be, right? first of all, this is an all expense paid lunch. second, this is an extravagant all expense paid lunch! ok, ok truth is, i am not very adventurous when it comes to food. i feel that i am only satisfied and full when i eat food that are familiar to the taste bud. filipino style cooking, my mom's or dad's cooking, the patis-suka (soy sauce-vinegar) mix or the hot and crispy kfc big breast breakfast are my cravings.

the thought of greek food is not very appealing. who knows what it'll taste like? i had bad experiences with foreign tasting food, so i was hoping this wouldn't be another one. i was warned that the food might be a little too bland for me. i had to expect the worst. . .that was the mindset.

our orders were then served. pastisado, paidakia (lamb chops) and potatoes all cooked in greek style, in to share servings. yummmmy! i was impressed and maybe the mindset did work but i almost licked the plate clean, specifically the pastisado-greek osso bucco (spaghetti topped with beef shanks in greek tomato sauce). the slabs of beef were tender and the taste was perfect.

it was also good to note that the staff were all smiles when they approach you, very eager to serve their guests. the guy who took our orders also made suggestions on what to eat. also, there was a quick display of food set on fire and then opa!

i will definitely go back and try the rest of the best sellers. now, im liking the idea of trying new eats.

ngipirt.com

this site has seen a lot of changes. switched between platforms. from blogspot to wordpress back to blogspot. also, tried to move all my contents here to my own domain. just to decide later on that i have another use for it and that contents of the originally jabberedonion.blogspot.com are more searchable.

why did i decide to finally move to ngipirt.com? that domain, i bought 4 months back and haven't used. i tried building a travel blog with it and load previously written blogs about my trips. in the process, i realized it's too much of a hassle. it would also be redundant since jabberedonion.blogspot.com talked generally about trips and activities which was the point of getting ngipirt.com up.

i am writing about this change now, but who knows if this will ever be the last.

rc planes at the northwing

a few days ago, i dropped by sm northwing and saw this on display.
no, this is not a real plane. this is a gigantic model plane on display right at the lobby of northwing. it's wing span and length probably measured a meter or so.

but this is no ordinary model. the interesting part about this plane? it can fly! the pilot remotely flies it using a hand-held transmitter and the plane's receiver. thus radio control (rc). and this isn't the only one of its kind there. several other types of planes were showcased. there were also helicopters.

the display attracted a lot of customers. most of them, awaiting for something to happen...like maybe planes flying, but nah!

i tried to get some information about rc aircrafts in cebu since there wasn't any provided in the mall display. you cant find so much information online either, at least for cebu enthusiasts. but there's a site for radio control in the philippines at http://rcphilippines.com. or you can go to other sites where this hobby is discussed like istorya.net, rcgroups.com, youtube.com and metacafe.com.

from what i read, usual fly sites in cebu are the family park and south reclamation flying strip.
it'd be nice to drop by one of these days and see these aircrafts fly.

wonder girls

nobody, nobody, but you! i want nobody, nobody but you! nan dareun sarameun sirheo niga animyeon sirheo (how can i be with another, i dont want any other) . i want nobody, nobody, nobody, nobody...

wow, i can't believe this song has been playing in my head for two days now! if you haven't heard of this song yet, this is nobody of wonder girls. the song has that beat which makes you want to sway your hips with raised brows and pouted lips.

i first heard of this song by the wonder girls in you tube. i stumbled upon a video of a wonder baby, that a friend in facebook uploaded. it was a south korean show where a four year old danced to this tune. the song didn't really catch my attention at that time. it was only after when people in my building started humming, singing and dancing to it! and so i did my research...

wonder girls has been in the south korean music scene for two years now. the members were all selected through auditions except for yubin, who joined the group only days before the release of their first single. the original fifth member, hyuna, apparently, quit because of health problems.
yubin, sohee, mimi, sun and yenny have now crossed the US boarders with the release of the english version of nobody. the wonder girls were featured by perez hilton in his blog back in 2008. and now their touring major cities in the US with the jonas brothers.

to see wonder girls' funny music video click here and go to videos.

trivia: the man in the video is park jin-young, singer-songwriter, producer and owner of the talent agency wonder girls is signed to.

nbi clearance renewal

the nbi clearance is an important document required when applying for work, getting a visa and for other purposes where you have to clear yourself of any criminal record.

i needed to renew my nbi clearance early today for my visa application. i was delighted to know that there's a kiosk near my place where i can get it renewed in a few minutes. unfortunately, the few minutes i was expecting turned out to be close to an hour. so here's what i had to go through, step by step, based on my experience in the robinsons place cebu kiosk.

1. line up for payment. while in the line, an nbi personnel will put barcode stickers on your old nbi clearance copies. before they do that, you have to show them a valid id. you will be asked to write your id card details on your old nbi copy before they'll finally put a mark on it. (i really didn't get this part of the process. as far as i can remember, no one checked on these when i got to the counter.)

2. prepare php115 for the usual paper copy and another php120 for the new nbi clearance renewal card. (i didn't have enough money, so i just paid for the paper)

3. transfer to another line for the actual processing of your nbi clearance. picture will be taken and you'll never be notified whether they're taking your photo already. (if you don't want to look like a criminal on your clearance, i suggest you smile by the time you stand/sit in the area until you leave)

4. your new nbi clearance copy is now printing. be ready to submit your right hand to the nbi personnel for him to put your thumbarks on the new copy.

5. pay another php5, (i think this is for the wet tissue handed to wipe your inked right thumb) and off you go.

it would seem like a very short process. yeah, for early birds. so here's a tip, go to the robinson kiosk as early as 7:00AM (the kiosk opens when the mall opens at around 10:00AM) or you could catch the second batch by lining up at around 11:00AM (second batch processing starts at 2:00PM)

hope you were able to find this guide for nbi clearance renewal helpful.

happy first

one year ago, about the same date, i started to blog.

i was inspired by a colleague who has been earning dollars through his blogsite. if you think about it, the only capital needed is time. no money is involved. who wouldn't be tempted to do exactly this if you know some people earn as much as or even more than people get through the usual jobs?

i was going through a heartbreak during that time and needed a diversion. i needed a venue to express all my emotions. the blog was perfect. some of those who came to drop by did not necessarily know me. i can fully let out without fear.

today, one year after, i still don't earn as much dollars as my friend does. in fact, i haven't really been paid for this yet. i don't need the diversion anymore, my heart is in its place, healthy. but i'm still here, blogging to my satisfaction.

until the next birthday!

hsbc partner offers

after all annual fees charged and waived, after the hundreds of bonus points earned, after two supplementary cards and almost quarterly increases in my credit limit, hsbc partner offers are now piling up. what a way to show that im a valued customer.

im fine as long as it wont stir my curiousity. if it does, then ill have major financial problems.

the recent one i received was for a time magazine subscription. the deal offered was very appealing to hsbc card holders. 58 pesos only per edition which is a little more than a dollar. on top of that, a 4 piece travel set will be given to new subscribers. well...i tore the offer, dont want anymore charges.

few weeks ago, i received offers from reader's digest, encouraging me to buy additional packages from them. yes, already am a subscriber through hsbc and they continue to send me all these papers. i recently photoblogged about it in jabberedonion.com. see here.

now, it doesnt stop in the mails, i also get calls for offers. a few hours ago, i just received a call from an insurance company pitching a product they call credit protector. i pity the lady i spoke with who after blabbing about it just got a disconnect from me. sorry, i really dont intend to make additional charges. almost a year ago, i signed up with ace insurance for a policy (you know, i cant even remember the benefits now) that i also tried cancelling a few days back.

to hsbc partners, i appreciate you trying to get my business. that only means you trust im a good debtor. unfortunately you wont get anything from me at this time.

skycable online service in cebu

in this time and age where everything can easily be accessed through the net, companies have to keep up. i can't believe there are those that do not provide their customers with online services. skycable is one. it's the leading cable provider in the country and so disappointing to note that their website, skycable.com, only caters to metro manila subscribers.

early today, i had to drive all the way to the mandaue office to pay. and when i asked if there's a way for skycable to reprint my bills, i was told they couldn't and that they don't keep copies. aha! mr. edwin celestial was being unhelpful and lazy 'coz i doubt that companies don't keep records. he wouldn't have had that encounter with me if skycable provided these services online. i could easily just access my account from home and print the bills myself. on top of that, paying would've been so easy. i could either charge it to my credit card online or do a wire transfer through my atm card.

these are simple needs but will definitely make our lives as customers very convenient if addressed. looking forward to a positive move from skycable in cebu.

in the interim, skycable cebu customers can continue to seek assistance through the following branches:
