how to vote this may 2010

many of us are probably wondering how to cast our votes this coming election with the automation and the pcos (precinct count optical scan) machines in place.this blog post is intended to share with you what i have learned during the cebu bloggers society meet with smartmatic's (company awarded with the country's poll automation contract) miguel avila.
1. prepare your list of candidates >> this should eliminate the chance of making a mistake in filling up the ballot.
note: there will be no replacement ballot available
2. after checking name at designated voting precinct, present yourself to the bei (board of election inspector) to get a ballot.
note: bring your voter's id or any valid id, bei will ask for any form of identification
3. make sure that your ballot is unmarked on both sides, then cast your votes.
note: the ballot will be pre-filled with the names of all candidates, all you need is to completely shade the oval beside the name of your candidate.
4. it's ok to undervote but never overvote!
note: if you voted for 13 senators instead of 12, your votes for any of the chosen candidates will be nullified. it doesn't affect the validity of votes for the other positions though.
5. feed your ballot into the pcos machine and wait for confirmation.
note: check the counter on the screen before and after insertion to make sure your vote has been counted.
6. return to bei for indelible inking.
this will be first time our country's going automated with the elections. let's all help spread awareness and teach as many friends as we can on how to vote this may 2010.
