my sister and i went to davao, december last year. while the sister's on a business trip... thought it would be nice to tag along. i have never been to the largest city of the country and where apparently i have relatives from both sides. thank you to promo fares i feel like i was just road tripping within the province.
davao is durian city. the moment we hit the terminal i was sniffing for that familiar scent. surprisingly, there was none. i was expecting davao to smell like durian in the same way hongkong smelled like noodles.
i love the candies! i didn't know about the fruit. i had my first face to face encounter with the durian fruit on our last day. my tita said i can't leave davao without tasting it. so i did. i love the candies even more!

went to see the 'monkey-eating eagles' at the philippine eagle center. didn't get to see them up close coz they were caged atop a hill. nope they are not fed monkeys.
we had photos taken with a smaller eagle, which didn't seem small when it extends its wings. the manong caretaker was so hospitable he volunteered to take one of the eagles out for this photo op.

the long drive continued on until late night. my aunt's house and other relatives' are in tagum city - 5? municipalities away from davao city. since it was dark, i can hardly see the view but i never missed the palm trees on both sides of the road. it gave me that california-ish feel.
on our second day, our aunt brought us to their farm in new corella - municipality further north and their small beach resort a few minutes away. ahhh...fresh air, all green and blue, easy to the eyes.

and the highlight? met up with our relatives from dad's side that we only got to know because of facebook. how coincidental that they live in the same city as our aunt (mom's sister)!

more photos of the trip...
two days was definitely not enough to tour a huge city like davao and it's nearby city tagum. so we are going back! see yah so soon!

Good to hear that you had a great time in Davao. Have you been to Malagos Garden Resort? and Eden? It's great there too. Perhaps next time you can come back. And, oh don't forget Pearl farm Beach.
I'm from Davao and planning to go back to Cebu in the next few months. Cheers! :-)
Hi Noy, thanks for dropping by. I have not been to those Garden Resorts yet. I actually just came from Davao. We went to Samal too but Pearl Fam was out of the budget.
I'm also thinking of going back and maybe stay in Davao city since I spend most of my vacation time in Tagum.
